St. Alban’s Congregational Meeting

August 22, 2010

We will have an Altar Team consisting of 5 or more members, plus a captain. This captain responsibility should rotate. It is suggested that Louise show everyone during a Sunday school period how to set up the altar and communion so anyone can be of assistance doing this when the need arises. We want to invite anyone who would like to be a reader to contact Mother Cathy. Alissa will do training. We also invite anyone to learn to become a Eucharistic minister and Lee will give a general training to all.

Holiday Worship Schedule: Do we want Thanksgiving Dinner at church? We will have service at 10:30 a.m. followed by games and then dinner at 12:30. What about Christmas Eve service? We won’t do a late night service due to weather and driving distance. We will have service at 5:00 p.m.

Sunday School starts September 12. Parishioners are asked to sign up to teach their favorite Bible story and Cathy Carleton will provide information, references and guidance. Sign up sheets are posted in the Fellowship Hall on the bulletin board next to the kitchen.

Adult Sunday School : Do we want worship, study, fellowship? Consider stand-alone lessons rather than a series. Bible stories that coincide with what the children are learning are suggested. Adults are encouraged to commit to work with Mother Cathy on developing the lessons and consider presenting. We will have a sign up for this also. Next year we may want to consider lessons on the church year and our traditions.

Mother Cathy reports we really need a Stewardship Committee. See Sally, Michelle or Carol to discuss and/or assist.

Convoy of Hope will come to the YMCA on October 9 and has invited churches in the area to help distribute the food, etc., and to set up booths to introduce ourselves to the community. We are working on a display and brochure for this purpose. If you are interested in helping or have something to contribute contact Deann. We will include information on our community activities and invite people to join us in these as a contribution to their community. The concept of "Pay It Forward" is suggested, i.e. we have this for you and here’s how you can help us help others.

We will continue our meeting next week during the Sunday School hour.
