Leader: He is dead. My son is dead. Do not say a word to me.
There are no words to heal this emptiness. Be still. Sit with me,
but do not speak.
Leader: Lord, hear our prayer for all mothers who have lost their
children in this world, who have relinquished them to Yours.
Remember their sorrow and hold them close to you, because the loss is immeasurable.
For mothers in all lands who have lost their children to the
destruction of war and the results of violence.
For mothers who have no strength to raise their children, who must relinquish them for others to raise. That, too, is a kind of death.
For mothers who watch their children wander the world without direction. That is another death of dreams, of hope.
Comfort them, Lord God. Hold them. And teach us silence.
All: Amen

you have redeemed the world.
